Residential bar

Cork, Ireland | 2021

This project is the renovation of a ground floor Georgian building. The main house begins on the first floor and therefore this lower level was disused. The brief was to insulate and repair the existing spaces, incorporate the new functions of a gym, bar, sauna, snooker room and bathroom.

The period house inspired the interior design of the space, with the tiled floor taking its pattern from the parquet flooring in the main house. The space was given an air of the art deco era with the patterns and features designed for the bar panelling, metal doors and snooker room. The flow from the main house into the garden was also an important feature as it was the main access route. A compass-rose was designed and handmade and placed centrally in the sunroom, to emphasis the clients love of sailing.

Brass and gold details tie each room together with every room having some form of brass or gold

Before the renovation, the ground floor had been used as storage and suffered from severe dampness.
